The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has ranked first in the UAE and 55th across Asia in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings, underscoring its position among the region’s leading higher education institutions, WAM reported.
The university also placed third in the Gulf region, reflecting steady gains in teaching, research output and international engagement.
Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of UAEU, said the ranking reflects the university’s sustained commitment to academic excellence, research and innovation, as well as its role in advancing national development priorities.
He added that UAEU continues to focus on developing human capital and supporting the country’s transition to a knowledge-based economy through high-quality education and research.
University officials said ongoing investments in faculty, research infrastructure and global partnerships have strengthened its international standing and competitiveness.
The THE Asia University Rankings assess universities across multiple indicators, including teaching, research, citation impact, industry income and international outlook, providing a comprehensive measure of institutional performance.
