The explosion occurred in the Salarzai area, where explosives had been planted near a dam that serves as a popular gathering place for residents in the late afternoon. District Police Officer (DPO) Khalid Khan said the blast struck the site as people gathered nearby.
How did the victims die in the Bajaur blast?
Rescue workers recovered one victim's body shortly after the blast, while the second was swept into the dam by the force of the explosion. After several hours of search operations, rescuers retrieved the second body and transferred it to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar, Khan said. The victims were identified as Suliman and Ghulam, both residents of Bajaur's Salarzai tehsil.
