Cotton arrivals rise 19% to 2.39 million bales as of September 15

Cotton arrivals at ginning factories across Pakistan rose 19.17% to 2.39 million bales as of September 15, compared with 2 million bales recorded during the same period last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners' Association (PCGA).

The data, compiled jointly by the PCGA and Karachi Cotton Association, showed that ginners across the country had received 2,388,682 bales this season, compared with 2,004,384 bales a year earlier.

Of the total arrivals, 2,207,183 bales had been pressed into cotton bales by September 15, while 181,499 bales remained unpressed.

Sindh leads cotton arrivals

Sindh accounted for the largest share of cotton arrivals, with 1.53 million bales received by ginning factories, up 16.25% from 1.31 million bales a year earlier.

Sanghar recorded the highest arrivals in Sindh at 888,607 bales, followed by Sukkur with 110,600 bales and Hyderabad with 89,828 bales.

Cotton arrivals in Punjab stood at 860,942 bales, up 24.73% from 690,254 bales last year. Bahawalnagar recorded the highest arrivals in Punjab at 166,400 bales, followed by Dera Ghazi Khan at 146,415 bales and Bahawalpur at 125,253 bales.

Stocks remain below last year

The PCGA data showed that total unsold cotton stock stood at 260,789 bales, compared with 325,780 bales a year earlier.

Of the cotton pressed this season, 2,035,093 bales had been sold, including 1,289,716 bales to textile mills and 92,800 bales to exporters and traders, while 79,290 bales remained in ginners' stocks.

The association reported a fortnightly cotton arrival flow of 692,231 bales, compared with 668,752 bales during the corresponding period last year.

The figures cover cotton arrivals at ginning factories through September 15, 2026, the PCGA said.
