Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a 30-day suspension and fined €255 by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) for leaving the national team's camp ahead of their Nations League fixture against Denmark earlier this month.

The FPF's disciplinary council upheld the charge against the 41-year-old forward, ruling that he deliberately violated Article 160(1) of its disciplinary regulations. Proceedings against Ronaldo were initiated on October 9.

Ronaldo reportedly departed Portugal's base in Copenhagen after accusing head coach Jorge Jesus of twice going back on his word regarding his role in the team. The disagreement followed his omission from the starting XI against Norway, where he remained an unused substitute.

Jesus denied reaching any agreement with Ronaldo but indicated the forward could return after Portugal's 2-1 victory.

Will Ronaldo miss Portugal's upcoming matches?

The suspension has been backdated to the day of Portugal's match against Denmark, meaning Ronaldo has already served 19 days of his punishment.

With the next international window scheduled for November 12-17, the forward is not expected to miss any matches for Portugal.

Portugal is due to face Denmark in the Nations League on November 14 before travelling to Wales three days later.

What has Ronaldo said about the incident?

Ronaldo had issued a lengthy apology for leaving the camp. He also reaffirmed his availability for selection once he completes any disciplinary punishment.

The fine is relatively insignificant compared with his reported €4 million weekly salary at Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, representing approximately 0.0064% of his earnings.

FPF president Pedro Proenca has expressed the federation's desire to welcome Ronaldo back once the matter is settled.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal, holding men's international records for both goals and appearances. He has also helped his country win Euro 2016 and two Nations League titles.
