Dubai has inaugurated its first Green Artificial Intelligence Conference and accompanying exhibition, aimed at promoting AI-driven solutions for environmental sustainability.

The event, held under the patronage of Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, is organized by the Zayed International Environment Foundation in partnership with Dubai Police Academy and Curtin University Australia, WAM reported.

Professor Dr. Mohamed Ahmed bin Fahad, chairman of the Zayed International Environment Foundation, described the conference as a rare platform bringing together environmental scientists, AI experts, urban planners, sustainability officials, technology innovators, educators, students and civil society representatives. He said the interdisciplinary gathering was essential for addressing complex environmental challenges and developing practical solutions.

“The conference reflects the spirit of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,” he added, stressing that collaborative knowledge-sharing can drive meaningful progress. He noted that the foundation has organized more than 100 initiatives over the years to promote sustainability and raise environmental awareness.

The conference’s theme, “Harnessing Technology for Environmental Sustainability,” underscores the potential of AI to support greener and more resilient development. The organizers said the event aims to align green AI with national sustainability standards and Sheikh Zayed’s long-term vision, providing an integrated model for balancing technological advancement with environmental protection.

Officials also highlighted that collaboration between government, private sector and research institutions can help the UAE maintain its position as a global leader in sustainable innovation.

The opening session was followed by keynote presentations, including Dr. Anwar Fatih Rahman Daghigh on AI and cybersecurity, and Professor Chetire Bonsilvan on current environmental challenges and the role of green AI.

The first day also featured an awards ceremony recognizing sponsoring partners, an exhibition showcasing best practices in AI for environmental sustainability and student projects focused on sustainable AI applications.
