Ambassador Professor Abdulsalam Al Madani has been appointed as a professor at New York University in the United States, becoming the first Emirati to hold a professorial position at the institution, in recognition of his long-standing academic, scientific and professional contributions.

Al Madani currently serves as the Roving Ambassador for the GCC region at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), a role through which he has been actively engaged in promoting regional cooperation, education and healthcare development, according to WAM.

The appointment was formally announced during the 23rd Annual Global Scientific Dental Alliance (GSDA) Meeting, held on the second day of the Emirates International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC Dubai 2026). The event, widely regarded as the world’s largest annual dental gathering, is taking place from January 19 to 21 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Senior officials and leading figures from both the United Arab Emirates and the United States were present at the announcement, underscoring the international significance of the recognition.
