Dozens of heads of state and hundreds of thought leaders gathered in Dubai on Monday to discuss economic stability, digital transformation, and public-private collaboration for meaningful change.
The 12th edition of the World Governments Summit, running through Feb. 13 under the theme Shaping Future Governments, features record international participation, according to a press release.
The event brings together more than 30 heads of state and government, over 80 international and regional organizations, and 140 government delegations. More than 300 global speakers will discuss major trends in 200 interactive sessions.
Speakers at the forum’s opening session included Mohamed Al Hussaini, UAE minister of state for financial affairs; Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund; and Dr. Fahad Al Turki, director-general and chairman of the board of the Arab Monetary Fund.
“Since its inception in 2013, the World Governments Summit has been a platform for future-focused thinking, bringing together leaders, experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs to anticipate and shape the future," said Mohammad Al Gergawi, UAE minister of cabinet affairs and chairman of the summit.
"This year, the summit fosters a global dialogue addressing the rapid changes and emerging challenges facing governments and societies. It aims to evaluate humanity's progress, identify opportunities for improvement, and empower future generations through highly effective governance and a sustainable future,” he said.

The summit will feature high-level ministerial meetings, bringing together government leaders from diverse sectors to exchange expertise and best practices. Several prestigious global awards will also be presented, including The Best Minister Award (in partnership with PwC) and The Global Government Excellence Award.
A major highlight of the summit is the TIME 100 AI Gathering, which will bring together 100 of the world’s leading artificial intelligence experts to explore AI’s role in shaping the future. The private sector will play a key role, with top industry leaders from technology, finance, energy, and media contributing to discussions on innovation and governance.
The forum will also address key economic and fiscal policy issues. Sessions attended by Arab ministers of finance and central bank governors will explore topics such as macroeconomic developments, fiscal policy design in response to mounting debt pressures, climate resilience, and tax system reforms for structural economic change.
In addition, the Arab Meeting for Young Leaders will provide a shared platform for collaboration between decision-makers and Arab youth, engaging them in discussions on leadership, entrepreneurship, and economic development.
Held annually in Dubai, World Government Summit serves as a premier global platform dedicated to shaping the future of governance and innovation.
