Mega Motor signs master agreement with BYD Auto Industry
Mega Motor will start selling two SUV models and a sedan from 4th quarter of 2024

Mega Motor Company, a subsidiary of The Hub Power Company (HUBCO), has entered into a master supply & manufacture agreement with BYD Auto Industry Company, a notice to stock exchange noted.
This partnership will enable Mega Motor to manufacture, market, distribute, and sell BYD passenger vehicles in Pakistan. The agreement also includes technical licenses for the licensed products.
BYD, a leading Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is set to make a substantial impact on Pakistan's automotive market.
In August, BYD announced its plans to open a car production plant in Pakistan, marking its entry as the first major new electric vehicle (NEV) player in the country.
This plant is expected to begin operations in 2026, providing a boost to the local automotive industry.
To support the introduction of BYD vehicles, HUBCO will establish fast-charging stations across major cities, motorways, and highways.
This initiative aims to enhance Pakistan's charging infrastructure, addressing one of the key challenges for electric vehicle adoption in the country.
In addition to the production plant, BYD plans to open three flagship stores and experience centers in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
These centers will allow customers to explore and experience BYD's advanced automotive technology firsthand.
The company has announced that it will start selling two SUV models and a sedan from the fourth quarter of 2024.
After boosting its annual sales in China 15-fold to 3 million cars in just three years, BYD is now exporting to around 95 markets, including 20 new ones this year.
The company is establishing, has recently opened, or has announced plans for assembly plants outside China in 10 countries across three continents.
This rapid and extensive expansion has surprised the global auto industry and led to protectionist tariffs in the US and EU.
BYD executives state that the company aims to sell cars and combat climate change.
However, it also aspires to achieve what no Chinese carmaker has done before: become a globally recognized consumer brand.
