Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari extended heartfelt felicitations to the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates on the occasion of the UAE’s National Day, highlighting the enduring partnership between the two countries.

The UAE National Day, observed annually on December 2, marks the unification of the seven emirates in 1971 and the founding of the modern state under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, “On behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the leadership and brotherly people of the UAE on this joyous occasion.

Pakistan deeply values its historic and time-tested partnership with the UAE—a relationship built on mutual respect, shared aspirations, and an unbreakable bond between our peoples. Our vibrant Pakistani community in the UAE remains a proud bridge between our nations, contributing to the UAE’s remarkable success story.”

He praised the leadership of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, noting that the UAE continues to inspire the world with progress, innovation, and global leadership. “We remain committed to further strengthening our multifaceted cooperation and elevating our partnership for a brighter, more prosperous future for our two nations. Long live Pakistan–UAE friendship,” he added.

Longstanding ties

President Asif Ali Zardari also extended his felicitations, highlighting the deep-rooted and brotherly nature of Pakistan-United Arab Emirates relations.

He recalled that Pakistan was the first country to recognize the UAE in 1971 and stated that the bilateral relationship is founded on shared Islamic values, mutual trust, and long-standing bonds.

President Zardari reflected on his family’s longstanding connection with the UAE, noting that Begum Nusrat Bhutto spent her final years in the country, while former prime minister Benazir Bhutto lived there during her exile. He added that his daughter currently resides in the UAE.

The president praised the Pakistani community in the UAE for serving as a vital bridge between the two nations and expressed confidence that cooperation in trade, investment, and defense would continue to expand.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with the UAE and prayed for the continued peace, prosperity, and development of the brotherly country.
