Pakistan mobile phone output rises 8% in November

Pakistan’s local mobile phone manufacturers and assemblers produced 2.49 million handsets in November, an increase of 8% from a year earlier, as output showed signs of stabilizing after a recent slowdown, according to data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

Production in November compared with 2.31 million units in the same month last year. Industry output has begun to normalize following earlier weakness linked to excess inventories, the authority said.

Despite the monthly recovery, cumulative local manufacturing and assembly fell slightly during the first 11 months of 2025. Total production reached 27.6 million units, down 3% from the same period a year earlier.

Smartphones accounted for a slim majority of output, with 14.51 million units, or 53%, produced during the January-November period. The remaining 47%, or 13.09 million units, were 2G phones.

Local manufacturers met 88% of Pakistan’s mobile phone demand during the 11-month period, down from an average of 93% in the first 10 months of the year. The decline was largely driven by a higher share of imports following the launch of Apple’s iPhone 17, the authority said.

Infinix led local assembly during the period with 3.47 million units, followed by VGO Tel with 3.07 million and Vivo with 2.57 million. Other major brands included Itel, Tecno, Samsung, Xiaomi, Q Mobile, Realme and G’Five.

Looking ahead, mobile phone sales are expected to grow 7% to 8% over the next 12 months, supported by a stable Pakistani rupee, easing inflation and improving consumer purchasing power, analysts said.

Companies such as Airlink Communication and Lucky Cement are likely to benefit from rising demand, as brands assembled locally under their portfolios, including Tecno, Xiaomi and Samsung, rank among the country’s top sellers.
