Pakistan has offered to host talks between the United States and Iran, as part of a broader regional push to reduce tensions and seek an end to the ongoing conflict, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar said Sunday.

Dar spoke at the conclusion of the second round of quadrilateral consultations in Islamabad involving the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt.

He described the discussions as “detailed and in-depth,” focused on the evolving regional situation and exploring pathways to achieve an early and lasting end to the conflict.

The meeting followed a first round of consultations held in Riyadh on March 19 and brought together key regional stakeholders amid concerns over the humanitarian and economic impact of the war.

Dar said all participating countries expressed serious concern over the devastating consequences of continued hostilities. He said the ministers agreed that further escalation would lead to more destruction and instability.

According to Dar, the ministers emphasized unity among Muslim countries and underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable solutions to the crisis.

He said he briefed his counterparts on Pakistan’s willingness to facilitate talks between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad. The visiting ministers fully supported the initiative, calling it a constructive step toward de-escalation and conflict resolution, Dar said.

The four countries agreed to work collectively to reduce the risk of military escalation and to create conditions conducive to structured negotiations, he added.

They also called for adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In addition to political coordination, the ministers discussed enhancing cooperation and decided to establish a committee of senior officials from their foreign ministries to develop a framework for future collaboration.

Dar expressed gratitude to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt for backing Pakistan’s efforts. He said that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan has engaged with regional and global partners to help resolve the conflict.

He said both the United States and Iran have shown confidence in Pakistan’s role as a facilitator and that Islamabad is prepared to host meaningful negotiations aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting settlement.

Dar also said China endorsed Pakistan’s initiative following his conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He added that the United Nations secretary-general has extended full support for the peace efforts.

Several other countries have conveyed confidence in Pakistan’s diplomatic role, reflecting broad international backing for its efforts, Dar said.

Concluding his remarks, Dar said Pakistan would continue to pursue its initiative with sincerity and commitment, calling for international support to help bring a permanent end to the conflict.
