Pakistan’s government said Tuesday that petroleum supplies remain stable, with fuel cargoes for March and April largely secured, as authorities monitor volatility in global energy markets amid shifting geopolitical conditions.

The update came during a meeting of the Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, according to a statement from the Finance Division.

Officials told the committee that national inventories of crude oil and refined petroleum products are at “comfortable levels,” supported by steady domestic production and confirmed import arrangements.

Supply chains — from import terminals to refineries, storage facilities and retail outlets — were reported to be functioning smoothly, ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability nationwide.

The committee reviewed inbound logistics and maritime operations, noting that cargo deliveries are proceeding as scheduled. Petrol shipments for March and April have mostly been secured, with additional cargoes planned to reinforce supply buffers.

Refineries are operating at regular capacity, with efforts underway to maintain optimal throughput and efficiently process incoming crude, the statement said.

Members also examined global oil and gas market trends, including price movements in international benchmarks and their potential impact on domestic pricing. Officials said the government is assessing differences between global and local prices to guide policy decisions.

The meeting emphasized the need for continued operational readiness across the energy supply chain, with a focus on maintaining refinery output and minimizing vulnerabilities.

Officials were also briefed on government-to-government engagements aimed at strengthening supply resilience through diversified sourcing, improved logistics and flexible procurement arrangements with partner countries.

Aurangzeb said proactive planning and coordination have helped Pakistan maintain stable energy supplies despite global uncertainty. He directed relevant authorities to continue closely monitoring international developments, stock levels and supply chain dynamics to ensure timely policy responses.

Ensuring uninterrupted availability of petroleum products remains the government’s top priority, he added.

The meeting was attended by senior cabinet members, including Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and National Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, along with other officials.
