Hunain Shah’s decisive final over and a strong batting recovery powered the debutants into the title clash while ending United’s campaign.

Chasing 187, Islamabad United lost Sameer Minhas and Mohsin Riaz early, slipping to 15/2 inside three overs. Shadab Khan and Devon Conway rebuilt cautiously, adding 42 runs before Conway fell for 30 in the eighth over.

Shadab struggled to increase the scoring rate and departed for 22 off 24 balls, leaving the chase under pressure. Mark Chapman then led the recovery, forming a 64-run partnership with Haider Ali, who scored a quick 31 off 16 deliveries.

Chapman scored a brisk 43 off 26 balls but fell in the 18th over, keeping the contest evenly poised. Faheem Ashraf and Chris Green shifted momentum by smashing 22 runs in the penultimate over, reducing the target to six runs from the final over.

Saim Ayub and Marnus Labuschagne steadied the innings with a 70-run stand before Saim was dismissed for 38. Labuschagne added 40 runs but fell alongside Glenn Maxwell in quick succession, reducing Kingsmen to 85/4.
