The Kremlin confirmed Tuesday that a Russian delegation will attend US-mediated trilateral Ukraine talks in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 10-11, Anadolu Agency reported. Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky will lead Moscow’s team. The talks aim to advance efforts to end the war.

Who will lead the Russian delegation at the Ukraine talks?

Vladimir Medinsky, a presidential aide, will remain Moscow’s chief negotiator. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the delegation will arrive in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 10-11. It will take part in negotiations with Ukraine and the United States, with Washington acting as mediator.

What will the Abu Dhabi talks cover?

US special envoy Steve Witkoff announced the talks on Monday. He said Washington would mediate working-level negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in the Emirati capital on those dates.

Witkoff said on X that the talks would advance President Donald Trump’s mission to end the war. Discussions will focus on post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts and next steps toward peace.

When did Russia and Ukraine last hold US-mediated talks?

The two sides last held US-mediated talks earlier this year. Three rounds took place on Jan. 23-24, Feb. 4-5 and Feb. 17-18.

The first two rounds were held in Abu Dhabi. The third took place in Geneva.

Will Russia, China and the US meet at the APEC summit?

Peskov also addressed a possible meeting of the Russian Chinese and US presidents on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. He said work is underway to coordinate it.

Moscow hopes the matter will be settled “in the coming days,” he said. Peskov called China, which hosts the summit on Nov. 18-19 in Shenzhen, the main organizing force.

What did the Kremlin say about Ukrainian strikes on energy sites?

Peskov said Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure continue. He said Moscow is taking “vigorous” measures to limit their impact, and that the effectiveness of Russian defenses has “increased significantly.”

Full protection is impossible, he added. For that reason, he said, Russia’s military operation continues. That is Moscow’s term for the war in Ukraine.
