UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr during a working visit to the UAE on Tuesday.

The meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, focused on enhancing relations between the two nations. Sheikh Mohamed expressed hope that the visit would mark a new chapter in the partnership, highlighting the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the UAE and the Philippines.

Discussions centered on expanding cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, economic development, and other shared priorities. Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the UAE’s commitment to strengthening ties, noting ongoing efforts to finalise a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to boost trade and investment.

He also highlighted the UAE's growing collaboration with ASEAN, where the UAE serves as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner, as a factor enhancing relations with the Philippines.

President Marcos Jr expressed gratitude for the UAE’s warm welcome and praised its humanitarian contributions globally. He reiterated the Philippines’ commitment to deepening cooperation with the UAE to advance mutual interests.

The visit also saw the signing of multiple agreements between the two nations, covering areas such as culture, energy transition, legal cooperation, and government modernisation.

Senior officials, including UAE ministers and members of the Philippine President's delegation, attended the meeting.
