In a major step toward digital transformation, the UAE Ministry of Finance held an artificial intelligence (AI) retreat to unveil its new strategic AI roadmap and assess its current digital maturity, WAM reported.

The event brought together top ministry officials, AI experts, and key partners to analyze the ministry’s AI readiness and outline future goals.

The newly launched plan focuses on six core areas: Financial Foresight, Smart Operations, Data Governance, Capacity Building, Infrastructure, and Organizational Impact — all aimed at improving efficiency and driving innovation in government financial processes.

Fatima Yousef Al Naqbi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for the Support Services Sector, said the initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to embedding AI across its operations to build a more agile and sustainable financial system.

" Artificial Intelligence is now a vital enabler of policy, planning, and value creation in government finance,” she noted.

She emphasized that the roadmap sets a clear path to boost digital preparedness, encourage innovation, and strengthen collaboration with both public and private entities to maintain the UAE’s edge in adopting emerging financial technologies.

The retreat included an in-depth review of the ministry’s AI maturity indicators—such as data capabilities, skills development, governance, and ethical standards—alongside strategy-alignment discussions with stakeholders.

This initiative is part of the ministry’s broader effort to modernize its institutional framework, harness advanced technologies, and develop solutions that support national goals for sustainable growth and effective governance.
