The United Arab Emirates announced an additional US$1.2 billion in support for Gaza through the Board of Peace, according to the state-run WAM news agency.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, made the announcement during the first meeting of the Board of Peace held in Washington under the chairmanship and invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The meeting brought together heads of state, senior officials and international decision-makers as part of what participants described as a coordinated effort to activate peace frameworks, support reconstruction pathways and develop sustainable approaches to enhance long-term regional stability.
Sheikh Abdullah’s participation marked the beginning of a working visit to the United States, which UAE officials said reflects the strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to strengthening international efforts aimed at regional security and stability.
In his address, Sheikh Abdullah expressed hope that the beginning of Ramadan would offer guidance toward peace, coexistence and prosperity.
Referring to the Abraham Accords, he noted that the UAE has worked with Israel toward what he described as a better future for the region. He said that since the start of the war following the Oct. 7 attacks, the UAE has provided nearly US$3 billion in assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.
“Today, Mr President, the UAE announces a further US$1.2 billion for supporting Gaza through the Board of Peace,” Sheikh Abdullah said during the meeting.
He added that the board’s convening would not have been possible without Trump’s support and referred to a previous meeting in New York involving regional leaders aimed at ending the war.
Also attending the meeting were UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy and UAE Ambassador to the United States Yousef Al Otaiba.
