Abu Dhabi’s top diplomat held phone calls with several counterparts to discuss regional and global developments following Iranian missile attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the region, the state-run WAM news agency reported.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates’ deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, spoke separately with Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Senegal’s Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs Cheikh Niang, and Peru’s Foreign Minister Hugo de Zela.

The discussions focused on the latest regional and international developments and the repercussions of the attacks for regional security and stability, as well as their potential impact on the global economy and energy security.

Sheikh Abdullah and the ministers strongly condemned what they described as unprovoked Iranian missile attacks, saying the strikes represent a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter and pose a direct threat to the security and sovereignty of states and to regional stability.

They also affirmed the right of countries targeted by the attacks to take necessary measures to safeguard their sovereignty, territorial integrity and the safety of citizens, residents and visitors in accordance with international law.

The calls also highlighted the importance of strengthening international coordination and intensifying joint efforts aimed at preserving regional security and stability.

During the conversations, Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation for what he said was solidarity and support shown by friendly and partner countries toward the UAE, adding that residents and visitors in the country are safe.

He also stressed the importance of advancing diplomatic efforts and engaging in responsible and serious dialogue to resolve outstanding issues and crises and help pave the way for peace and greater prosperity for the peoples of the region.
