UAE President offers condolences to family of former US President Jimmy Carter

Former US President Jimmy Carter died aged 100 on Sunday.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of former US President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100 on Sunday. In a message shared on social media platform X, the President described Carter as "a good friend of the UAE," and acknowledged the significant legacy he leaves behind.

"Together with the late Sheikh Zayed, he laid the foundations for disease eradication efforts that continue to make a meaningful impact today,"  Sheikh Mohamed wrote, highlighting the strong collaboration between the UAE and Carter in global health initiatives, particularly in the fight against diseases.

In recent years, Carter faced various health challenges, including melanoma that spread to his liver and brain. However, it was his work beyond the White House that solidified his legacy. Carter became an internationally respected advocate for human rights, hunger alleviation, and poverty reduction. His tireless efforts earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his work in promoting peace, resolving conflicts, and championing human rights worldwide.

The UAE’s tribute to Carter reflects the global respect he earned for his lifelong commitment to humanitarian causes, a legacy that continues to inspire and resonate across the world today.
