UAE’s ‘Mother of the Nation’ sends 40 tons of aid for Lebanese women
Two planes under the ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ campaign have landed in Beirut
Two relief planes from the UAE, part of the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign, landed at Beirut Airport on Tuesday.
One of the planes carried a contribution for Lebanese women from ‘Mother of the Nation’ Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the General Women's Union and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
Each plane was loaded with 40 tons of supplies to assist Lebanese women affected by the ongoing conflict.
“Dear mothers of Lebanon, our hearts are with you in all circumstances and times. The UAE was and still is with Lebanon, hoping for stability and security," said Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, assistant minister of foreign affairs for Development and International Organizations and a member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
He noted that Emirati humanitarian values are part of the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, emphasizing the need for a swift response to the needs of people and nations facing conflict and disaster, regardless of origin, color, faith, nationality, or race.
The campaign was launched under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan with oversight from Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Martyrs' Families Affairs Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
