The Arab Parliament has strongly denounced what it described as a terrorist conspiracy targeting the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates, praising Emirati authorities for foiling the plan and detaining those involved, state news agency WAM reported.
In a statement on Tuesday, Arab Parliament President Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi expressed full backing for the UAE, saying the body stands with all measures taken by Abu Dhabi to protect its sovereignty, national security and social stability.
He reiterated the parliament’s rejection of extremism and terrorism in all forms, particularly actions aimed at destabilizing Arab states, and called for stronger Arab and international coordination to confront such threats.
The statement followed an announcement by UAE State Security that it had dismantled a cell accused of planning covert activities intended to undermine national unity and public order.
Authorities said the group had been preparing organized sabotage operations inside the country and was linked, according to investigators, to Iran’s “Wilayat Al Faqih” system.
Officials added that members of the network had embraced extremist ideology deemed a threat to internal security and had engaged in recruitment efforts through secret gatherings as part of a broader plan coordinated with external actors to access sensitive locations.
Investigators also said the suspects had held clandestine meetings both inside and outside the UAE with individuals and groups described as terrorist-linked, aiming to disseminate misleading narratives and recruit Emirati youth into foreign-aligned activities.
