In a move aimed at enhancing operational resilience and supporting long-term growth, Barkat Frisian Agro Limited has announced an investment of PKR 690 million in the development of two modern poultry farms.

Barkat Frisian Agro Ltd is a joint venture between Buksh Group and Dutch company Frisian Egg Group. According to the company’s website, it the largest egg producer of Pakistan.

In a stock filing on Friday, the company said the new farms would ensure supply chain security, cost control, and food safety in the face of evolving market and climate challenges.

This investment would help the company reduce external dependency and build internal capacity to meet increasing demand in both domestic and export markets, the statement added.

It will also help the company improve margins and ensure price stability while also improving compliance, food safety, and transparency.

The two poultry farms will have a combined capacity of 225,000 birds and produce approximately 200,000 eggs per day —around 20% of Barkat Frisian Agro's current daily requirement of 1 million eggs.

The company also plans to establish a dedicated feed processing facility, which will not only support internal operations but also third-party poultry firms.

About the ownership of the new farms, the company said one of them will be fully owned and operated by Barkat Frisian Agro. The second farm will be developed under a joint operational arrangement with a third-party partner.

The company will secure funds through its internal resources and debt, with commercial production expected to commence within 15 months.
