Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni in Bishkek on Friday for the second time in less than 24 hours, as the two neighbors intensify diplomatic contact amid continuing regional tensions.
The back-to-back meetings took place on the sidelines of SCO interior ministers' gatherings in the Kyrgyz capital, Al Arabiya reported. Neither Islamabad nor Tehran immediately released details of Friday's discussions.
What did Pakistan and Iran discuss in their Bishkek meetings?
The two ministers reviewed Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, regional developments and security cooperation, according to Pakistan's interior ministry. Discussions also covered efforts to reduce tensions and matters related to internal security.

The talks build on a series of high-level contacts as Islamabad works to sustain diplomatic channels with Tehran.
Why is Pakistan meeting Iran so frequently?
Pakistan has positioned itself as a mediator between Iran and the United States following months of conflict and stalled negotiations.
Islamabad hosted a high-level round of Iran-US talks in April, though those negotiations failed to produce a breakthrough. Pakistani officials have since remained in contact with both governments, relaying messages and proposals aimed at de-escalation.
Pakistan also played a role in facilitating a ceasefire reached on April 8. The truce has largely held, but broader negotiations remain deadlocked over Iran's uranium enrichment program and the status of the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran shut the strait following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets earlier this year.
What has Naqvi's diplomatic role involved?
Naqvi has visited Iran several times in recent weeks, holding meetings with senior Iranian officials including President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The consecutive Bishkek sessions follow that pattern of intensive shuttle diplomacy. Islamabad has sought to keep communication lines open as the regional situation remains uncertain.
