The UAE government has launched a specialized training program for Chief AI Officers, aimed at strengthening leadership in artificial intelligence across federal entities, WAM reported.

The initiative supports the country’s broader vision to become a global hub for emerging technologies.

Led by the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications in collaboration with the University of Birmingham Dubai, the program seeks to equip senior officials with cutting-edge AI expertise and leadership skills.

Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama, emphasized the importance of investing in leadership to drive sustainable innovation. “Equipping decision-makers with the right tools accelerates national progress and positions the UAE as a pioneer in AI-driven transformation,” he said.

The two-week executive course blends academic insights with hands-on learning, covering topics such as AI governance, generative AI, machine learning, data science, and the economics of AI. Participants will also explore real-world applications in sectors including healthcare, cybersecurity, urban planning, and government services.

Beyond technical knowledge, the program addresses ethical and regulatory dimensions of AI, while promoting strategic thinking and innovation. It also serves as a platform for knowledge exchange between UAE officials and international experts.

Chief AI Officers were selected following UAE Cabinet approval, based on their potential to lead digital transformation in government. Their appointment is part of ongoing efforts under the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 and the "We the UAE 2031" national vision.
