UAE has expanded its visa-on-arrival program to include nationals of six new countries, effective July 25, allowing eligible travelers to obtain a 14-day or 60-day entry visa.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security announced the update, which also broadens the list of qualifying countries of residence.
Which nationalities are now eligible for UAE visa on arrival?
Nationals of Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa are now eligible for the UAE visa-on-arrival program. India was previously the only qualifying country. Applicants must hold a valid residence permit from an approved country and may apply for either a 14-day or 60-day visa.
What residence permits qualify for the UAE visa-on-arrival program?
The updated policy expands the list of approved countries of residence whose permits qualify applicants. Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Canada have been added to the existing list, which already included the United States, European Union member states and the United Kingdom.
Applicants and their accompanying family members must be nationals of one of the seven eligible countries and hold a valid residence permit from one of these approved nations.
What are the visa types, fees and rules for overstaying?
Eligible travelers may choose between a 14-day or 60-day visa. The 14-day visa costs Dh100 and can be extended once while the holder remains in the UAE. The 60-day visa is priced at Dh250 and is issued as a single-entry, non-extendable permit.
Authorities require travelers to leave the UAE before their authorized stay expires. Those who overstay will be fined Dh50 per day.
Why is the UAE expanding its visa-on-arrival eligibility?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the expansion reflects the UAE's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with partner countries and promoting humanitarian, economic and cultural cooperation. Authorities said the changes will create more opportunities for eligible travelers to visit while supporting the UAE's position as a destination for talent and skilled professionals.
An ICP spokesperson said the amendments are designed to align with shifting global travel trends and make it easier for a wider range of visitors to enter the country.
