China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed Beijing's support for Pakistan's mediation efforts in a phone call Tuesday with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The two discussed regional security and Pakistan's diplomatic push to facilitate engagement between Iran and the United States, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said.

What did China say about Pakistan's mediation efforts?

Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan's role in bridging the US-Iran divide and backed Islamabad's "positive and stabilizing role" in the region.

China expressed support for dialogue and de-escalation as the path to ending the conflict. Pakistan's mediation efforts have drawn backing from Beijing as tensions in the Middle East continue.

What regional issues did the two ministers address?

Dar highlighted Pakistan's commitment to supporting dialogue and reducing tensions to encourage long-term regional peace, the ministry said.

Both ministers stressed the importance of maintaining a durable ceasefire and ensuring smooth passage of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The strait is a critical global shipping route connecting the Persian Gulf with international waters.

What bilateral matters did Dar and Wang Yi cover?

The two ministers also discussed upcoming high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China, along with preparations for events marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

They reviewed cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact on issues of mutual interest and to continue coordination for regional peace and stability.

Is Qatar also supporting Pakistan's mediation push?

Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said his recent visit to Washington focused on backing Pakistan's diplomatic efforts to end the US-Iran war.

"The visit focused primarily on supporting the Pakistani diplomatic efforts and ensuring a positive response to these efforts to reach a solution as quickly as possible," Sheikh Mohammed said at a press conference in Doha alongside Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
