Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has delivered a special letter from Pakistan's political and military leadership to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei during a visit to Tehran on Sunday.

Naqvi handed the letter to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to Iran's Fars news agency. No details about its contents have been released.

What was in the special letter Naqvi delivered to Iran's supreme leader?

The contents of the letter have not been disclosed by either Islamabad or Tehran.

A source told Nukta a day before the visit that Naqvi was carrying a special message from Field Marshal Asim Munir to the Iranian leadership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also contributed a message as part of the high-level outreach.

What was the purpose of Naqvi's Tehran visit?

Before departing for Tehran, Naqvi held extensive consultations with senior Pakistani government officials, including Prime Minister Sharif.

According to a Nukta source, Sharif provided specific instructions regarding Iran-U.S. talks, suggesting regional diplomacy would be central to the visit's agenda.

Pakistan's Prime Minister's Office confirmed that Sharif met Naqvi in Lahore on Saturday, where the two also reviewed bilateral meetings held on the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

How has Pakistan been involved in Iran-US negotiations?

Pakistan has served as a mediator between the United States and Iran in negotiations that led to an April 8 ceasefire. U.S. President Donald Trump and other senior U.S. officials have publicly praised Islamabad's role in those efforts.

Naqvi himself has previously been credited with facilitating contacts linked to the ceasefire process.

Field Marshal Munir has also been involved in Pakistan's diplomatic outreach, making multiple visits to Tehran. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has praised the Washington-Islamabad relationship, and Trump has publicly commended both Munir and Sharif for their peace efforts.

The United States and Iran remain engaged in indirect negotiations through mediators, with a final agreement yet to be reached despite the ceasefire holding since April 8.
