Multan Sultans continued their dominant run with a narrow 11-run win over Karachi Kings in the 28th match of the HBL PSL 2026 at the National Bank Stadium on Sunday, registering their fifth victory of the season.

As a result, they are second on the PSL 11 points table after Peshawar Zalmi, with 10 points from seven games, while Karachi are at the second last spot with three wins and four losses.

Chasing 208, Kings were bowled out for 196 in 19.4 overs as Sultans’ bowlers held their nerve in the closing stages to defend the total.

The openers Saad Baig and Jason Roy made a brisk start, adding 29 runs before Arafat Minhas struck to remove Roy for 16 off nine balls. Minhas then dismissed Salman Ali Agha for a struggling two, reducing the Kings to 41-2 in 4.1 overs.

The Kings lost a third wicket inside the powerplay when Peter Siddle sent back Saad Baig, who had made 21 off 15 deliveries.

Reeza Hendricks and Moeen Ali then steadied the innings with a valuable partnership, adding 67 runs and taking the total past 100.

Hendricks looked set for a half-century but fell for 49 off 32 balls to Mohammad Imran. Moeen followed soon after, dismissed by Ashton Turner for 27, leaving Karachi at 129-5 in the 15th over.

Abbas Afridi kept the chase alive with an aggressive knock, helping the Kings cross 150. However,

Khushdil Shah was dismissed cheaply by Momin Qamar, before Arafat Minhas returned to remove Shahid Aziz for a first-ball duck, leaving Karachi reeling at 160-7.

Despite a late push from Abbas and Hasan Ali, who brought the equation down to 23 runs off the final two overs, Sultans struck back at the right time.

Siddle dismissed Abbas after a quickfire 34 off 16 balls, while Adam Zampa and a run-out accounted for the final wickets, ending Karachi’s innings at 196.

First innings

After being put into bat, Multan Sultans posted a competitive 207-7, with impact knocks from Shan Masood and Josh Philippe, and a quick fire 26 at the backend from Mohammad Imran.

They suffered an early blow when Khushdil Shah removed Steve Smith for a duck in the second over. Awais Zafar and Josh Philippe then rebuilt the innings with a fluent 66-run partnership, taking the score to 77-2 before Khushdil struck again to dismiss Philippe for 44 off 23 balls.

Shan Masood joined Zafar and continued the momentum, with the pair guiding the total beyond 100. Khushdil picked up his third wicket by removing Zafar for 36.

Arafat Minhas and Ashton Turner chipped in with useful contributions, but Moeen returned to remove Turner, and Hasan Ali accounted for Minhas as Sultans slipped to 174-6.

In the death overs, Mohammad Imran provided a strong finish, smashing 26 not out off just eight balls to push the total past 200, with Mohammad Wasim unbeaten on seven at the other end.

For Karachi Kings, Khushdil Shah was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 35, while Moeen Ali claimed two wickets. Adam Zampa and Hasan Ali picked up one each.
